Irish Film Screening – Bram Stoker agus Dracula

Bram Stoker agus Dracula will be screened on October 28th as part of the upcoming Irish Popcorn! series for Solas Nua.

Bram Stoker agus Dracula is a 2011 documentary by Dearcán Media that looks the remarkable life of Dublin born Bram Stoker, and the extent to which his Irish background had an influence on the creation of Dracula, his best-known work, and one of the most recognizable characters in world literature.

The documentary examines Stoker’s early life, including the influence of a mysterious illness that left him unable to walk until he was seven years of age, the significance of his relationship with his Sligo-born mother, and his later college years in Trinity in the mid to late 1860s when he became an outstanding athlete and was one of the most recognizable characters in Dublin city.

This free event is being co-hosted by NYU DC, and the screening will be facilitated via Zoom.

A post-film discussion will feature:

  • Dacre Stoker – Great-grand nephew of Irish author Bram Stoker. Dacre is also an author, sportsman, and filmmaker
